Durham Professional Services is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Bid Manager (Operations) to join our client’s commercial team, responsible for global bid management. The bid team is accountable for delivering the commercial aspects of tendering and ensuring consistent Quality Assurance for all of our client’s tenders. This role works across the business and internationally with business development, technical and senior teams, often to tight deadlines, coordinating activities to deliver quality results and to maximise our opportunity of winning new work.

For this role, the ideal candidate will be highly organised and have a natural ability to multitask.   An effective communicator, with demonstrable leadership and communication skills, you will take a proactive approach to meet internal and external client expectations, maintaining a high level of accuracy throughout.  Working on complex bids it is paramount that candidates have a strong commercial understanding and awareness of financial data, commercial contracts and legal requirements within operations and maintenance services. This role is ideally based in Scotland but can also be based in Dublin or Newcastle

 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of the opportunity/bid management process and commercial QA for tenders, quotes and prequalification’s (PQQs)
  • Commercial approach to bid management with a focus on profitability
  • Project management of the tender writing process, including coordination of a multidisciplinary bid team.
  • Close liaison with relevant business unit and support teams to ensure timely submission of deliverables for quotes and tenders
  • Governance and management of cost calculators and price books
  • Commercial contract review and negotiation support including liaison with stakeholders where required
  • Act as client contact where appropriate and follow up on submitted tenders as required
  • Management of opportunity records in the CRM and ERP system to enable accurate, live business reporting
  • Responsibility for designated business area data

Qualifications and Experience

  • An effective communicator and builder of relationships, with demonstrable leadership and communication skills, take a proactive approach to meet internal and external client expectations, maintaining a high level of accuracy throughout. 
  • Working on medium to high-end bids it is paramount that candidates have a strong commercial understanding and awareness of financial data, commercial contracts and legal requirements within operations and maintenance services.
  • Bid management and tendering experience - with demonstrable track record
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of technical and commercial issues
  • Understanding of financial data, commercial contracts and legal requirements
  • Familiar with CRM system management
  • Experience in commercial aspects of operations and maintenance (O&M) services
  • It would be desirable to have some of the following skills and experience
    • Degree qualified
    • Bid management qualification
    • Consultancy experience
    • Renewable energy industry experience
    • Environmental services
    • Tender writing skills
    • Knowledge of renewable energy O&M services 
    • Experience of pricing O&M contracts (eg inspections, service and maintenance)
    • Contract negotiation experience
