Durham Professional Services are delighted to be recruiting for a Network Architect for our client. The purpose of the role is, to assist with the design, development, test, and implementation of internal and client-specific IT solutions relating to networks for the UK Geography (presently including UK, South Africa and India). Key to this role is the architecture capability (measured by CCDP) as this is a design role first but we also need someone with engineering/hands-on capability so they can also support implementation and troubleshoot as well.

  • Assist with the design, development, documentation and implementation of network solutions to ensure optimal system performance and access in a 24/7/365 environment.
  • Provide environmental design and layout criteria for network facilities, cabling infrastructure, equipment, and other devices.
  • Develop technical requirements and test plans to evaluate vendor products, services, proposals, and bids.
  • Develop and maintain regular plans to support vendor releases for network hardware, operating systems, and software.
  • Ensure adequate network services, capacity, and availability (e.g., bandwidth, switch ports, cables, and connectivity).
  • Develop and maintain documentation of current configurations including the baseline templates and optimal configurations and generate regular change reports.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor network performance measures and reports and troubleshoot performance problems.

Key Skills: -

To perform this role successfully it is expected that candidates will have experience of: -

  • An in-depth technical understanding of IT Network topologies.
  • Minimum CCDP (Cisco Certified Design Professional) essential.
  • Considerable experience designing, developing, and implementing network solutions.
  • Good knowledge of Cisco VRF lite, BGP, EIGRP and OSPF.
  • Good knowledge of Firewall configurations and NGF set up.
  • Good troubleshooting methodology.
  • Proven written, oral communication and influencing skills within senior management teams.
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
