Durham Professional Services is looking to recruit a project Manager on behalf of our client based in Glasgow City Centre. This is a 3 months contract role which will be inside IR35. You will be working within a flexible environment, with all of what Glasgow has to offer on its door step, including easy access to all public transport, this is an excellent role with a vibrant organisation.

The role of Project Manager will involve you planning, managing and controlling small to medium scale projects. You will coordinate the work of resources, manage 3rd party vendors for the duration of the project, as well as managing project-related risks and resolving issues.

You will also maintain regular communication with your Project Sponsor and relevant stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

The Job

On a day to day basis, you’ll be involved in the following:

  • Support the preparations of requests for project proposals and business cases
  • Conduct all necessary meetings to facilitate production of required information for each stage
  • Liaise with architects to manage alignment to the road map and strategy
  • Lead all phases of projects to ensure on-time completion within budget
  • Develop project plans and objectives; identify resources needed, develop schedules and methods for measuring results
  • Assemble and coordinate project team members; assign individual resposibilities
  • Monitor the project’s overall progress including analysing and resolving issues, managing the project’s budget on behalf of the project sponsor, and monitoring the expenditures and costs against delivered benefits as the project progresses
  • Ensure the preparation and dissemination of relevant and timely project communications, including communicating with project sponsors, functional area managers and/or third parties regarding status, and reporting progress at regular intervals to the project sponsor and governance boards as appropriate
  • Manage both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects and other initiatives
  • Manage contributions from third party suppliers, and maintain strong working relationships with all project suppliers, both internal and external, to ensure optimum performance

The Person

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with the following:

  • Experience in Project Management using best practice methodologies and processes on projects
  • Experience as an IT Project Manager working in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Ability to liaise with suppliers and business stakeholders to translate business-technical and vice versa
  • Ability to synthesise project information and establish the scope of a project
  • Exposure to budgetary control & resource allocation
  • Knowledge & experience of best practice techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects/programmes
  • Management of cross functional teams
  • Understanding of different project lifecycles for IT and non-IT projects
