Senior Project Manager

 

Durham Professional Services is delighted to be working on behalf of our client to recruit a highly skilled Senior Change Project Manager. This role is working for our client in Glasgow but given the current restrictions there will be an element of WFH and office based as required. This role is being offered on a fixed term (salaried) basis until March 2023.

This role is focussed around Microsoft365, so having experience of this would be a real advantage. The purpose of this role is to plan, manage and control the finance of complex projects of up to £1m. Coordinate the work of resources, manage vendors for duration of project and manage project-related risks and resolves issues. Maintain regular communication with Project Sponsor and relevant senior stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

The scope of this role will be project portfolio dependent, and as part of the flexible resource pool, may be responsible for the line management of Project Managers, and contributing to best practice development.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support the preparation of requests for project proposals and business cases and conduct all necessary meetings to facilitate production of required levels of information for each stage
  • Lead all phases of projects to ensure on-time completion within budget.  Develop project plans and objectives; identify resources needed, develop schedules and methods for measuring results. Assemble and coordinate project team members; assign individual responsibilities for projects of up to £1m
  • Ensure the delivery of project outputs are to the appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the project plan
  • Ensure the preparation and dissemination of relevant and timely project communications
  • Manage both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects and other initiatives
  • Manage contributions to the project from third party suppliers as appropriate, and manage and maintain strong working relationships with all project suppliers both internal and external to ensure optimum performance

Skills and Experience

 

  • Extensive experience of working in a project environment and some experience of working in a Programme environment
  • Proven experience in change management using best practice methodologies and processes
  • Project Management qualification, such as Prince 2 Certified Practitioner, or equivalent level of experience
  • Ability to apply strong project management skills and methodologies as required
  • Ability to synthesise project information and establish the appropriate scope of a project
  • Have excellent knowledge and experience of “best practice” techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects and programmes
  • Have an excellent knowledge of project management methodologies/approaches
  • Knowledge and experience of the techniques for managing cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of different project lifecycles for IT and non-IT projects
