Durham Professional is delighted to be working with our multinational client based in Glasgow to recruit Software Technology Manager. This role will report to the Head of Platforms, is a permanent role and offers hybrid working. The successful candidate will be expected to work in the Glasgow office from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

To successfully perform this role it is anticipated applicant will have the following key skills and experience: -

On a daily basis, you’ll be involved in the following:

Oversee the translation of and alignment to IT strategic direction for client technology

  • Lead the development of software technology and management of developers, technical consultants, support technicians and scrum masters
  • Oversee the development of technology in support of the continued stability and development of exams and learning systems 
  • Oversee the development of  technology to ensure future flexibility and innovation in our delivery models
  • Oversee the application of best practise and industry standards including customer experience, regulatory, and security in conjunction with business product owners and SMEs
  • Act as a technology evangelist and advocate for IT across the organisation
  • Ensure that the teams develop continuously so that the right tools, methods, and skills are in place to support business outcomes and provide a consistent level of service to the organisation

The Person

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Strong experience of leading developers and technical consultants
  • Strong experience of leading teams in organisations undergoing significant transformation
  • Strong experience of  managing technical teams
  • Sound experience of software development environments and approaches
  • Strong knowledge of cloud technologies, modern integration, and information management approaches
  • Experience of leading high performing teams delivering new products/product enhancements on time and budget
  • Knowledge of agile concepts working across multiple platform teams
  • Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of detailed technical concepts and to apply this understanding to everyday business problems
  • Strong influencing skills with both internal staff and external stakeholders with the ability to provide clear and non-technical advice/interpretation of complex information
  • Stakeholder management and reporting up to director and senior executive level
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to think laterally and conceptually
