Technical Support Engineer

We are delighted to be working with our client on an exclusive basis to recruit a 1st Line technical Support Engineer. This role is being offered on a 12-month FTC and would be an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to gain further experience in the area of IT. This role is based in Glasgow and as such candidates should be able to get to the office if required, ie must be commutable. This role is mostly 9-5, but on occasion out of hors work will be required.

This role will involve some field work but will be mostly office-based help desk work. It is a busy role that will require attention to detail and as you will be involved in first line support you will be the first person the customer speaks to. Therefore, providing excellent customer service is something that you enjoy.


Key Duties

  • Administering and supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 to 2016 and SBS 2011 including Active Directory and Group Policy creation
  • Administering and supporting Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016
  • Assisting the technical team with LAN / WAN hardware and router configurations
  • Assisting the team with Server Virtualisation Environments such as Microsoft Hyper-V / VMware
  • Helping with the procurement and administration
  • Some understanding of Office 365
  • Providing 1st line telephone support for our client's products, both hardware and software

Key skills and Experience

  • Good all-round IT knowledge gained from an IT degree or relevant industrial experience
  • Interested in all aspects of modern IT technology
  • Good working knowledge of personal computing Operating Systems such as Windows 10
  • More than proficient with MS Office applications
  • Some exposure to Server OS would be an advantage
  • Clean Driver’s License
