Durham Professional Services is delighted to be working in partnership with our client based in Glasgow to recruit a UI Designer on an initial 3 months contract. Please note that this role is likely to fall inside IR35.

As a part of the web and digital team you will help create the next generation of our client’s digital products. This role will work closely with the Senior UX designer, using your design skills to wireframe, produce high fidelity prototypes and user interface designs.  Your work will comply with the latest standards and embrace modern development techniques for desktop and mobile.

Additional responsibilities of this role include: -

  • Design solutions using the latest UI methodologies to address business, brand and user needs across multiple digital channels
  • Applying user experience techniques such as storyboarding, user research, user testing, user flows, personas, journey mapping, impact mapping, wireframes and prototyping to design a delightful and intuitive digital customer experience
  • Designing such that they can be passed to the development team for implementation within our digital products
  • Championing excellent user interface design within the business and ensuring user experience requirements are incorporated into the development of our digital products
  • Supporting the Senior UX Designer by refining, developing and building work initiated by them

For applicants to be successful in this role, they should have the following skills and experience: -

  • Strong communication skills, friendly and adaptable.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing their own workload.
  • Can take ownership of a project, not just producing designs but comfortable handling the wider business relationships too.
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of the design process, from research or requirements gathering, through to delivery.  This means understanding the user, sketching, wireframing, prototyping and producing high quality designs.
  • Is able to build wireframes using industry standard software and then design and produce high-fidelity prototypes from those wireframes.
  • Desirable
    • Has an understanding of UX principles, as well as the implications of cross platform design. Not just responsive web, but apps also.
    • A desire to participate in UX activities, we believe it’s a good thing for everyone to be able to do a little of every type of task.
    • Knowledge of CSS, HTML & JS.
