Durham Professional Services are working closely with our client to recruit a Business Improvement Lead. This position will work directly with business functions to support and lead them in the task of designing customer journeys and business processes to deliver on strategic priorities and to introduce performance and efficiency improvements.  The initial focus will be on supporting the client’s Digital Transformation programme to achieve efficiencies and maximise benefits.

The successful candidate will lead a small team of experts in their field who will identify process-based solution opportunities with their business customers and will set in place an implementation plan to affect their delivery. The team will work collaboratively with the business, sharing skills and methodology and providing training and support thereby encouraging and growing a change culture and continuous improvement mindset.

This role will have overall responsibility for the success of the service being offered to the business. The role will manage a portfolio of activities centring on the design of customer journeys, business process changes and activities within the context of transformation programmes and projects.  A key focus of this activity will be to deliver defined and measurable customer outcomes, business benefits and efficiencies.  The role holder will have accountability for leading the larger and more complex activities within the team.

The role holder will be responsible for the line management of the more junior roles in the team and, from time to time, of contract resources.  The role holder will be accountable for the development and maintenance of team processes and approaches, working closely with Enterprise Architecture and colleagues in Transformation to ensure that approaches and deliverables are consistent with client wide practices and frameworks.

 To successfully perform this role it is anticipated that applicants will have the following key skills and experience:-

  • Current Master Black Belt Six Sigma qualification is expected
  • Previous experience of working in a business process design/performance improvement role in a medium to large organisation
  • Extensive consultant level experience and knowledge of business performance/ process analysis and design methodology and techniques
  • Has significant experience of identifying and helping deliver business improvement in a large and complex organisation
  • High level of numeracy with logical and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Considerable experience of working within a programme/project management delivery framework on large scale and complex projects
  • Significant experience and ability in influencing, challenging and negotiating with business stakeholders.  Excellent facilitation skills
  • Highly motivated, proactive, enthusiastic and resilient individual who is able to lead and work as a core team member demonstrating a proven track record of an ability to plan and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent consultancy, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with a diverse range of people at all levels in the organisation demonstrating customer focus and a sensitivity to a variety of stakeholder views
