Durham Professional Services is delighted to be working with our client to recruit an experienced Project Manager on an initial 12 month fixed term contract (Salaried). Our client is based in Glasgow but this role will be initially WFH. However, there will be a requirement to be onsite 1 day per month so candidates will be expected to be commutable to Glasgow.

As an experienced Project Manager, you will have previous experience of working within a matrix environment managing projects that are significant in scope and impact. With excellent coordination skills, you will organise the work of professionals and administrative staff (possibly across other functions and disciplines), managing project-related risks and resolving issues. 

It is essential that you exhibit strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities and have experience of working with the business on compliance projects.

This role will involve:-

  • The leadership of all phases of projects to ensure on-time completion within budget.  You will develop project plans and objectives; identify resources needed and develop schedules and methods for measuring results.
  • Preparing requests for project proposals and business cases and conducting all necessary meetings to facilitate production of required levels of information for each stage.
  • Monitoring the projects overall progress, analysing and resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
  • Managing the projects budget (typically in excess of £500k and may be up to £1.5M) on behalf of the project sponsor, monitoring the expenditures and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the project progresses.
  • Assembling and coordinating project team members and assigning individual responsibilities.
  • Ensuring the delivery of outputs from the project is to the appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the project plan.
  • Manage contributions to the project from third party suppliers as appropriate (value of third party contracts typically in excess of £0.3M)

To ensure this role is carried out successfully, candidates should have:-

  • Proven experience in Project Management using best practice methodologies and processes.
  • Ideally have a PM qualification, such as Agile Prince 2, or equivalent level of experience.
  • Have a demonstrable track record of delivering business related (non technical) projects
  • Have the ability to apply strong project management skills and methodologies as required
  • Previous experience of managing the delivery of managing finance within business change projects would be an advantage.
