A new requirement has arisen for our large Public Sector client based in Central Scotland. Working from home there will be a requirement to attend office in Glasgow or Edinburgh as required, as such commutable to and from these locations is required. No sponsorship will be provided for this role.
We are looking to recruit a Security Engineer Support the provision of Operation IT security capabilities across the Business Systems Directorate as part of the IT Platform Services team to minimize operational, financial and reputational risk
Role tasks involve
- Support the resolution of security issues and incidents reported through monitoring and SIEM tools and/or raised by colleagues in areas such as internet access, threat actor/malware attacks and email while working to a high standard of customer service.
- Support, implement and maintain remediation action required from vulnerability management sources e.g. Pen Tests/scanning/NCSC comms
- Understand and implement appropriate rights access e.g. role based access control (RBACS) and the principal of least privilege (PoLP)
- Support the technical implementation of security and audit standards e.g. ISO27001, Cyber Essentials
- Monitor and Maintain perimeter security including firewall management, IPS/IDS management
Skills and Experience
- Strong, well defined communication skills, both written and spoken
- Good analytical, organisational, multitasking and prioritisation skills
- Exposure to varying security technologies including but not limited to Nessus/Tenable, Antivirus, SIEM platforms
- Exposure to Linux and Microsoft systems and environments
- Knowledge of networking technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, Firewalls, SSL, HTTP etc)
